Home Hack 1 – Create a Safe and Efficient Plastic Bottle Housefly Trap

Houseflies are a common household pest. They can carry hundreds of disease-causing microorganisms which can cause cholera, dysentery, typhoid fever and much more. This poses a real threat to our family, especially to our children. Houseflies feed on liquid or semi-liquid items and foods that are touched by saliva. They are commonly active during daytime and are said to rest during night-time. Domestic waste often attracts houseflies and they often multiply rapidly in domestic waste. While you can use chemicals to protect your home from houseflies, this is not advisable because these chemicals can be harmful to your family members, particularly your children. In this tutorial, we will be showing you a safe and efficient way of eliminating houseflies. This is a family-friendly solution which is simple, inexpensive and efficient.

Step 2: Remove the label of the PET bottle using a cutter.

Step 2.Step 3: Cut around the upper third of the PET bottle.

Step 3.Step 4: Remove the bottle cap of the PET bottle.

Step 5: Flip the upper third of the PET bottle upside down, then insert it into the remaining two-thirds of the PET bottle.

Step 5.Step 6: Slowly push the upper part down into the lower part of the bottle. This will create a snug fit between the two parts.

Step 6.Step 7: Create several vertical cuts on the inner part where the mouth of the bottle is located. This will allow the upper third of the bottle to tightly fit into the lower part of the bottle.

SteStep 8: Tightly wrap duct tape around the edges on top of the PET bottle. Make sure that the duct tape has some excess on the topmost part of it.

Step 9: Create vertical cuts on the excess tape on top.

Step 9.Step 10: Tape the excess pieces of tape that you’ve just cut onto the insides of the housefly bottle trap one by one.

Step 10.Step 11: Pour the raw brown sugar through the upside down mouth part of the housefly bottle trap.

Step 12: Pour a cup of white vinegar through the upside down mouth part of the housefly bottle trap.

Step 12.Step 13: Pour a glass of distilled water through the upside down mouth part of the housefly bottle trap.

Step 13.Step 14: Shake the fly trap bottle to homogenize the mixture inside.

Step 15: Now the housefly bottle trap is finished and ready to use. You can now place it anywhere in your house.

Step 15.This housefly trap is very efficient and safe to use. It can be placed in the garden, the kitchen or even in the living room if you have houseflies that lurk around. This is safe for homes that have kids since we have used organic materials that would not cause any harm at all to humans. Once you have a considerable amount of houseflies inside, dispose of your existing housefly trap and create a new one.

Home Hack 2 – Effectively Remove Bottle or Jar Labels

Mother Earth acquires huge amounts of waste every day, from all parts of the globe. A lot of non-government organizations are raising awareness to us in order to control the growing problem of global warming. Global warming is the increase in the presence of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere that can lead to an increase in sea temperature. This increase in temperature is bad for the planet because it contributes to the melting of the polar ice caps. One of the best ways to combat global warming is to recycle where possible to reduce the amount of household waste that you produce.

Most people eat three to four times a day and a lot of the food they consume comes in bottles and jars. These bottles and jars can be recycled and used as containers for your home organization plans. You just need to clean them and remove the labels.

These labels are quite tough to remove unless you have the right formula. This tutorial will teach you how to prepare a formula that makes labels very easy to remove, and leaves you with a fresh, clean bottle or jar. So, if you are into organizational home hacks and are looking for good containers to use, follow the instructions below.

Step 3.Step 4: Place your jar or bottle with the label in the warm water mixture.

Step 5: Add some more warm water to the bowl deep bowl to submerge the bottle or jar. You can fill the deep bowl until the water reaches the upper marker. The deeper your bottle or jar is submerged the faster, the faster the label removal process will be.

Step 5.Step 6: Rotate the bottle or jar from time to time. This will allow you to remove the bottle or jar label evenly.

Step 6.Step 7: Submerge the bottle or the jar in the warm water mixture for about 2 to 3 hours, making sure you continue to rotate it.

Step 8: Carefully peel off the label of the jar or the bottle. This will be a lot easier now since the bond of the paste which attaches the label to the bottle or jar will now be broken.

Step 8.Step 9: Continue submerging the jar or the bottle if you have stubborn parts.

Step 10: Once the label is fully removed, remove the jar or the bottle from the mixture and wash it with running tap water. This will clean both the insides and the external wall of the bottle or jar.

Step 10.Step 11: Wipe dry the bottle or the jar using a clean towel.

Step 11.Step 12: Fill the clean bottle or jar with the items that you intend to store.

Step 13: Close the cap of the bottle or jar tightly. You now have a clean bottle or jar that is perfect for your home organization needs.

Step 13.You don’t need to spend any money buying organizational jars or bottles in the market because all you need is several empty bottles or jars. Once you have these bottles or jars, clean them using the method above to make them presentable enough aesthetically. You can also put some tags on the cap to avoid confusion, especially if you are planning to use these bottles or jars to store kitchen powders like cornstarch, flour or sugar which all look the same when seen from afar.

Home Hack 4 – Make an Eco-Friendly Vitamins Organizer

A vitamin is an organic compound that contains vital nutrients that a person or any organism requires in small amounts. Some of the most commonly used vitamins are vitamin C or ascorbic acid which may protect against diseases such as the common cold and the flu, and the B vitamins which may support a healthy metabolism. Vitamins are commonly sold in pharmacies and some markets. They are available over the counter because they are considered to be a supplement and not an antibiotic.

This DIY home hack will finally bring organization to your vitamin closet.

As we get older, we may need more vitamins to keep us going. Though age is just a number, getting old means our system may be slowing down in the production of the required chemicals in our body. In order to maintain the level of chemicals we need in our bodies, we may need to take these vitamins. There is a saying that, “Prevention is better than cure”, and this is may be especially true when it comes to vitamins. They could protect against future health problems before they occur.

However, if you’re taking multiple vitamins, it can be difficult to keep track of everything you need for the day. A vitamins organizer is a perfect solution to this and allows you to keep track of all your vitamins in the storage container that’s mobile and easy to access. That’s what we’ll be showing you how to make in this tutorial.
